(September 18, 2020) – Greenville, SC – Upstate Ultra, a race and trail event organizer in Greenville, SC hosted an ultra event on The Preserve at RiverWest which represents 200+ acres of conserved property just three miles from downtown Main Street on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
The 6-12-24 Hour Race was held at the former Millstone Golf Course, which still has six miles of paved cart paths and wooden bridges intact, making it an ideal space for elite athletes to run and train. The race was held on a scenic 1.5 mile loop within the conservation land, which also boasts a waterfall, lake and access to the Saluda River.
Ethos Projects is a manager of the Preserve at RiverWest property, which was placed under a permanent conservation easement. A conservation is set of restrictions placed on a designated piece of land that prevents development or other substantial change in perpetuity. It is voluntary and unchangeable and is designed to preserve and protect the property’s natural state. When land is conserved, it helps preserve scenic open spaces, protect wildlife habitat, improve water quality and safeguard important resources for future generations.
Upstate Ultra’s SCUM Runners collaborate on a race series that bring people together for quality trail race events that give back to the trails and park systems that host them. They are working with trail and ultra runners from around the state of South Carolina to continue its long-standing tradition of events, runners, and the positive impact that they have.
